Thigh Lift
A thigh lift removes the loose, hanging skin from your thighs which is resistant to diet and exercise after major weight loss. After substantial weight gain (and secondary to the effects of aging), our skin loses its elasticity. Following weight loss, the skin does not have the capacity to shrink back down, and loose skin often remains hanging. This can cause irritation and make it difficult to wear certain clothing. A thigh lift removes this excess tissue, revealing the shapely contour beneath.
Liposuction is sometimes used in combination with a thigh lift to remove pockets of excess fat for a smoother result.
Thigh lift procedure
A thigh lift is performed under general anesthesia. The surgery usually takes two to four hours. Tightening and lifting the excess skin necessitates incisions and scars that extend from the front groin crease and inner thigh, possibly around to the buttocks. The incision may extend down the inside of the thigh towards the knee. As with other massive weight loss contouring procedures, the scars may widen and the inelastic skin may stretch out over time. Despite this, a thigh lift can be a wonderful procedure to achieve a natural body contour.
After thigh lift
After your surgery, you will wear a compression garment for about three weeks to facilitate healing. The day after your lift you should get up and move around to prevent blood clots, but you should avoid any strenuous activity for six weeks.
You will experience some swelling after a thigh lift. The majority of swelling goes away in the first few weeks after surgery so you will be able to enjoy your new look and shape quickly. The size and shape of your legs will continue to improve over the next months as the remainder of swelling disappears.
