Nose reshaping, also called rhinoplasty, is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures performed on men and women. Imperfections in the size and shape of your nose, as well as minor or serious deformities following trauma, can be corrected surgically.

Nose Reshaping Goals

Nose reshaping can improve the contour and profile of your nose, bring balance to your entire face, and can even help restore a more youthful appearance. Nose reshaping can:

• Reduce nose size
• Increase nose size
• Remove humps or bumps along the top (dorsum) of the nose
• Narrow the nostrils
• Narrow or change the bridge of the nose
• Straighten a crooked nose
• Change the shape of the nasal tip
• Reduce a bulbous nasal tip
• Change the angle between your nose and upper lip
• Correct injuries
• Correct birth defects
• Relieve breathing problems

Nose reshaping can be performed alone or in combination with other facial procedures, such as chin reshaping.

Nose Reshaping Alternatives

During your consultation we will discuss your personal goals. Sometimes, I will recommend a different procedure to best accomplish those goals. For instance, if you have a recessed or small chin, a rhinoplasty procedure may not improve the appearance of a prominent nose. In this example, chin reshaping may be more appropriate to bring your entire face into balance.

Types of Nose Reshaping Surgery

Nose reshaping involves incisions inside the nostrils with or without an incision on the columella (the bridge of skin between the nostrils), and it may include surgery on the septum. A septoplasty is performed to correct breathing problems caused by nasal passage obstruction, and the septal cartilage can be used to augment the nasal contour. Sometimes patients only need something called a tip rhinoplasty, which addresses deformities of the nasal tip.

The type of nose reshaping surgery which you will need depends on the unique structure of your nose and any history of past surgeries or trauma, as well as your personal goals.
