Facial Reshaping

Unwanted deposits of fat in your face and neck can distort the natural shape of your face and contour of your profile. Accumulation of fatty tissue can be a result of excess weight. However, stubborn pockets of fat may remain in your face even after you lose weight from your body. At the same time, gradual loss of fat in key areas such as the cheeks is a natural part of aging. Restoring plumpness in certain facial areas can create a more youthful appearance. Through facial reshaping, I can remove the unwanted fat and restore fullness where it compliments your features and facial structure.

Liposuction

Liposuction is used to remove unwanted areas of fat, restoring your natural contours and revealing the beauty of your facial structure. Liposuction of the face and neck can improve your appearance in many ways including:

• Reduce or remove a “double chin”
• Improve the angle between the neck and chin
• Reduce or remove jowls
• Create a more defined jaw line

In most cases, the skin will shrink after the fat pocket is removed. However, if your skin has lost its elasticity or if a large area of fat was removed, liposuction alone may be inappropriate and I will discuss skin tightening procedures, such as a facelift and necklift.

Micro-fat grafting

As we age, our face loses its natural plumpness. This can create hollows and shadows in unwanted places. As your natural contours change, the skin may hang loose and appear wrinkled. In fact, many patients who seek a facelift find that restoring their natural plumpness smoothes out the lines and folds more effectively than tightening the skin.

Fat grafts can replace the lost tissue fullness with fat from elsewhere on your body. After the fat is transplanted, it must have a blood supply. This process is called revascularization. Micro grafts are very small groupings of harvested fat cells which revascularize much better than large grafts and therefore are more successful.

Facial trauma or past surgery can also result in asymmetries and contour irregularities which respond well to fat grafting.
