Breast Lift
Pacific Northwest
(Mastopexy)
A woman’s breasts may start to appear deflated with the natural aging process, following child birth or breast-feeding, or after massive weight loss. A breast lift (mastopexy) can restore the shape and beauty of your breasts. If you are interested in breast enlargement or even just more upper breast fullness, you may learn that a simultaneous breast lift with implants, or augmentation mastopexy, is necessary to achieve the best result.
Breast lift goals
A breast lift will help to:
- Raise sagging breasts to a more youthful, higher position
- Remove excess skin
- Reposition your nipple and areola to a more natural location
- Bring together breast tissue which has spread and flattened out
A breast lift does not add volume, but it can make your breasts appear larger because the tissue is brought together and fits into a smaller skin envelope.
Breast lift with augmentation
If you want more volume as well as a better breast shape, a mastopexy can be combined with breast enlargement. This is a popular option after childbirth and nursing, often as part of a Mommy Makeover. By combining breast implants with a lift, you can experience improved shape, firmness, location of the breast mound and nipple-areola complex, as well as increased overall size or upper breast fullness. In some situations, it may be appropriate to stage the two procedures in order to achieve the best outcome.
Breast lift after massive weight loss
After massive weight loss, patients may be dissatisfied with the appearance of their breasts. As a result of weight gain and subsequent loss of skin elasticity followed by rapid fat loss, the breasts may lose much of their volume and the skin may sag excessively. A breast lift can be performed with or without implants, or in combination with other body contouring procedures to accentuate your new, healthy shape. Since the skin elasticity is no longer normal, it is important to realize that you may need further surgery in the future to help maintain an attractive breast contour as gravity continues to act on the breast tissues.
During your consultation, I will evaluate your existing breast tissue and skin condition. After discussing your personal goals, I will help you decide if a mastopexy is the most beneficial procedure for you.
